MOUNT PINDO
THE CELTIC OLYMPUS
A must-see for nature lovers, Mount Pindo rises from the sea like a giant at 627 meters high. In the form of a granitic lump, full of mystery. It houses countless legends that tell us about treasures, Queens, owls and witches. It is also said that the Galician Celtics worshiped the sun on Mount Pindo, making it their Olympus, and there are many references to it in Galician literature, which contributed to establish its mythical character.

Popular tradition holds that on Mount Pindo lies the remains of Queen Lupa along with a treasure of incalculable value that has been searched for countless times.

The work of erosion has turned this massif into a striking set of strange zoomorphic and anthropomorphic figures, which the popular imagination has often attributed to supernatural forces. It will be enough to take a close look around us to surprise us by observing rocks that suddenly turn into giants, warriors, turtles, eagles and as many other beings as our imagination can imagine.

There were many Republican fugitives who sought refuge in this mountain during the difficult years of the Civil War, taking advantage of the crevices to take refuge. Walking through these places we can find specimens of dwarf oak (Quercus lusitánica), a small shrub that rarely exceeds a meter and a half in height, with a tendency to grow horizontally. It is a very rare species that has been known to coexist with other oaks, pines and laurels.
Mount Pindo is an unparalleled place for hiking, Despite the fact that the possibilities offered by the environment are endless there are a number of signposted trails of geological, ethnographic and botanical interest.
MOUNT PINDO ROUTES

The Pindo routes are among the most extraordinary in Galicia. To discover Mount Pindo you have to walk it; there is only one way to surround yourself with this beauty: by entering it. We especially recommend 2 tours to discover the magic of this "great colossus". The one that starts from O Pindoand the one that starts in the village of Fieiro. Paths that travel between huge granite balls and anthropomorphic rocks that lead to the imposing Laxa da Moa located at 627 m above sea level. The secrets that these stones hide are a spectacle for the senses, a unique experience that you will have walking these trails.
*There are other routes with difficult access such as the Penafiel peak or A Cova da Xoana not suitable for all trail walkers due to their level of difficulty. For these last routes we recommend checking their status beforehand.
