A SEA OF LIFE

The 30 km of coastline of the Municipality of Carnota create an endless succession of beautiful beaches. From O Pindo to Lariño, there are more than seven beautiful and welcoming beaches, with the indisputable beauty of nature in its pure state.

From June 1 to September 30, pets are only allowed to access the beaches throughout the municipality between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. the following day, provided they are meet the regulatory conditions.

Carnota beach

Carnota beach, shaped like a half moon, is a natural area of great beauty and environmental interest. Behind an immense sandy beach, about 7 km long, rises a unique set of dunes and marshes with an interior lagoon that hosts flora and fauna of great interest. For birdwatchers this is an ideal place, as it serves as a reserve for a multitude of species during their migration movements and others that settle here throughout the year, with the addition of being one of the few places in Galicia where the snowy plover nests.

At the heart of the beach, at the river mouth of the Vadebois River, it offers a wonderful spectacle in something known as Boca do Río.

Due to its richness and variety of ecosystems, as well as its priceless beauty, Carnota beach was named by the German magazine "Traum Stände" one of the hundred best beaches in the world. The prestigious British newspaper 'The Guardian' includes it among the 40 best in the world and the newsletter Rentalia.com in a poll with over 1000 participants, places it among the three best in Galicia and it was recently recognized by the British newspaper "The Guardian" among the 40 best in Europe.

Caldebarco

Caldebarcos beach

Quiet beach of fine white sand located in a semi-urban environment. It is exceptional for practicing water sports due to the frequent winds and coastal breezes.

Boca do Rio

Boca do Río beach

Surrounded by nature and pine trees in the vicinity of the mouth of the Vadebois River. It is the most frequented beach for its beauty and services.

 

From here you can also access the Berberecheira and Cangrexeira beaches and the Caldebarcos marshes, where you can observe different types of birds.

Praia do Pindo

San Pedro do Pindo beach

Urban beach with good access located just below the Celtic Olympus. It is characterized by the turquoise blue color of its waters and by having little waves. It was sometimes recognized with the blue flag.

Mar de Lira

Mar de Lira beach

Small beach with easy access and great crowds during the summer months. In its vicinity it has a rest area and a children's playground. It is connected to the port of Portocubelo through a small wooden walkway.

Praia de Lariño

Lariño beach

It is located to the left of the Lighthouse of Lariño. It is a wild and uncrowded beach with fine white sand and excellent quality waters located in a practically virgin environment.

It is ideal for practicing water sports such as surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing and is also highly recommended for watching the sunset.

Porto do Pindo

Port of Pindo

Small mooring port for artisanal and recreational fishing vessels ideal for practicing leisure activities and renting kayaks and paddle surfing.

Porto de Quilmas

Port of Quilmas

Natural sheltered harbor with a smal beach with golden sand. Small barges belonging to local fishermen remain anchored there. During the s. 17th, 17th and early 19th century it was one of the most active fishing and salting of sardines in the municipality.

Portocubelo

Portocubelo

Artisanal fishing port area within Os Miñarzos Marine Reserve. It has a small cove and a promenade that connects it with Mar de Lira. Very close is Pepe do Cuco's museum house .
