Carnota hosted from April 2 to 5 the XIII Local Promotion Fair “Víndemo Ver-Mercado da Deputación”, a celebration that turned Praza de San Gregorio into the epicenter of local craftsmanship, tradition, and culture. The event, dedicated this year to the sunset, was a great success in terms of attendance and participation, reinforcing its position as a benchmark for cultural and economic promotion in the region.

Visitors were able to enjoy a wide range of local products, traditional crafts, food stalls, and outdoor activities. The fair opened its doors on Thursday with the inauguration ceremony at the Auditorio do Viso.

The mayor, Juan Manuel Saborido, was responsible for opening the event and highlighted the

importance of initiatives like this in boosting the local economy and encouraging the consumption of local products. This was followed by a talk by Nando Lestón on the influence of sunset on painting. During the

event, the immersive audiovisual show “Os nosos ceos: Costa da Morte”, by Antonio Nodar and Frank Bushmann, was presented. The piece, created using time-lapse, captured the evolution of the sky from a single point in Carnota over an extended period, showcasing various atmospheric phenomena, including sunsets and even auroras borealis, which particularly amazed the audience. Once again, the fair featured the presence of La Voz de Galicia photojournalist Ana García, who presented her exhibition “En busca del rayo verde. Atardeceres en el último segundo del sol”, a collection of images capturing unique sunset moments and the stories behind them.

Sporting activities such as the XIII BTT Route took place without incident, and the V Bicycle Gymkhana for children was also very well received. The themed hike “Andaina do Solpor” on Saturday brought together more than one hundred nature enthusiasts on a route of around 12 km from the Louredo to Carnota, offering spectacular views of the surroundings, especially of the Carnota hillside.

Music and cultural performances added a festive touch, with standout concerts by Chiña, The Balayos, Los Lunes al Sol, Tiam GZ, Xian Pais, and Ortiga. In addition, children’s activities such as pottery and basketry workshops, traditional games, and shows kept younger attendees entertained throughout the four days.

The fair also provided an opportunity to immerse in maritime history and culture thanks to the themed exhibition “Un mar de cunchas” and the photography exhibition “En busca del rayo verde. Atardeceres en el último segundo del sol” by La Voz de Galicia photojournalist Ana García, both of which could be enjoyed at the stand of the Concello de Carnota – Deputación da Coruña throughout the event.

With this edition, Carnota reaffirms the success of its commitment to thematic events, offering an experience that stands out not only for showcasing local heritage but also for its welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
